ADSL Modem
System requirements:
Windows 98, 98SE, ME, Windows 2000 or Windows
XP
USB port
CD ROM drive
Pentium 133Mhz or higher
32 Mbytes of RAM or higher
Please note:
(a) at present there is no support for PCs running Dual Processors.
(b) some PC`s have problems supporting USB devices. Please
see the FAQ section on Nildram's site (http://www.getadsl.co.uk/faq.htm)
ADSL Router
When there is a requirement to connect to a Local Area Network
a routed solution will be needed. This requires the use of
a device called a router. Routed solutions are typically found
in one of two types of configuration, Network Address Translation
(NAT) - where several machines share a single IP address -
or Real IP where each computer will have a real-world IP address
visible from the outside world (requiring additional IP addresses).
We are once again able to offer a fully managed router solution
where the router is provided as part of the monthly charge,
or a suitable router can be purchased. Both options can support
both types of implementation - NAT or Real IP.
All Single IP (Static) ADSL services will
be configured for NAT - this service cannot be used in conjunction
with an SMTP mail feed.
If the real IP address option is selected
in conjunction with the router, it will be configured as required
to support the Real IP environment.
Multiple IP Addresses
For network environments that require additional IP addresses
to support extra services we are able to offer multiple IP
Address options that deliver a total of 8 IP addresses. For
environments that require more than 8 we can offer 16,32,64,128
or 256 address blocks for a one-off extra charge of £40+VAT.
Re-grading ISDN to ADSL
It is possible in most cases to re-grade Home Highway ISDN
to ADSL but this will definitely involve a visit from a BT
engineer, which is no longer required with the other ADSL
services or options. It should also be noted that conversion
would result in reverting the line back to what is effectively
an analog phone service with a single telephone number. There
are clearly some advantages in upgrading to ADSL but the current
usage requirements of the ISDN service must be considered
before a conversion is done, it may be worth considering an
additional analog line for use with ADSL rather than a re-grade,
and cancelling the ISDN line. Please contact us for details
or advice.
